Starting 2020 off with a bang!

When I saw District 37 would run a 4-round Hare & Hound series this year, it was without question this would be something I would participate in and support. I will usually jump at any excuse to race my home series! With this series being just 4 rounds, it was something reasonable to make the commute from Utah for.  Round 1 hosted by Checkers MC did not disappoint, leaving me and all who came with some serious race stoke!

I had so much fun and the conditions were perfect, my family and desert family were out in full force too. Talked shit all night at the camp fire and had a lot of laughs. My club had 17 racers on the board including my little sis Cassee who raced her first desert race in probably 10 years. I was 1st Woman out of 11 that finished, it's truly awesome to see female ridership and enthusiasm grow in desert racing.

RACE DAY
I've been really happy with my starts and it seems like the trend will carry into 2020. With some new gearing on the bike, a fresh KENDA Parker DT tire and the moist dirt - I was able to get a great jump off the line and actually stay on the gas without a wall of dust consuming me. The adrenaline flow felt amazing and picking my way through the chaos until we all settled in.

The course was fast and super fun, I was hooting & hollering, pulling power wheelies and just having a grand 'ol time feeling the flow. Before I knew it, loop 1 was over and I felt like a champ heading out for the second half.

I decided for the day I would practice line choice and making smart, safe, patient passes. I had a blast picking people off and working on my technique. I settled my pace down, anticipating some gnarly stuff to come my way, but they made the course very rider friendly and only threw in one techy uphill and a somewhat gnarly downhill for us.

Knowing most of my main competitors were not there, it was nice to have a relaxed ride and still pull the win.  It was a good warm up for round 2 of the D37 Hare and Hound series in a couple weeks …. which will also be round 1 of the KENDA National Hare and Hound series I will race is year as well.

Knowing I’ve ridden only once since my last race in October ... I had no expectations going into race 1 of my 2020 season. My goal was to have fun, and break up the cob webs which I did successfully. Thank you to Checkers MC for starting 2020 off with a BANG!

It feels awesome to have the first race of the season under my belt, and a WIN at that!! I look forward to representing my sponsors proudly this year!
